Philip T O'Malley

June 13, 1942 ~ June 17, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Centerville/Sturbridge...Philip Thomas O'Malley Jr. 75 of Centerville MA passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday,  June 17 2017 after a long struggle with cancer. 
 
Philip was born in Clinton MA and raised in Worcester MA. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip "Phidy" O'Malley and Mary "May" O'Malley and his sister Mary O'Malley.  
 
Philip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Lucy Jeamel O'Malley, his son Timothy J. O'Malley and his wife Michelle of Nashua,  NH, his son Kevin O'Malley and wife Kelly Parent of Sturbridge MA, and his daughter Courtney (O'Malley ) Harper and her husband William Harper of Brimfield, MA, and seven grandchildren,  Abigail,  Hayden, Olivia, William,  Kade,  Grace, and Max. Philip also leaves behind four siblings, Paul O'Malley of San Francisco,  CA,  Timothy O'Malley of Holden,  MA, Elizabeth O'Malley of Westborough MA, and James O'Malley of Marlborough MA. 
 
Also survived by loving nieces, nephews,  relatives and friends.  
 
He graduated Cum Laude from Assumption Prep. High School in Worcester,  MA where he starred as a varsity hockey player. He also attended the University  of Massachusetts in Amherst,  MA. 
 
Philip completed a six year tour of duty as an infantryman in the 1/181st Infantry of The Massachusetts Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  
 
Philip worked for 41 years for the Palmer Paving Corporation in Palmer MA, retiring in 2010 as a Chief Estimater/Engineer.  
 
Philip was a long time parishioner of St. Anne & St. Patrick Parish of Sturbridge MA. 
 
Among Philip's interests included skiing,  ice hockey, reading,  travelling, and spending time with his loving wife Lucy, his children and grandchildren.
 
The funeral will be will Thursday, June 22, 2017, from Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550, with the Mass at 10AM, at St. Anne/St. Patrick's Church, 16, Church Street, Fiskdale, MA 01518. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 4-7PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be at St. Anne's Cemetery, Arnold Road, Sturbridge, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Hospice 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601
