He was born February 18, 1937, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, son of the late Obdulio and Benedicta (Bermudez) Alicea, and moved to the area in 1954. He lived in Southbridge until 2016, when he moved to Brook Park, OH. He retired in 1999 from L&P Paper, Inc., where he worked for 24 years. After his retirement, he went to work at a job he loved, driving the SCU Elderbus. He was an avid walker on Route 169 for many years, and had a generic wave for everyone who passed him by on his walk. He also enjoyed baseball, and played for the Southbridge Softball Association League. Marcial's two mottos, which he coined and lived by, are "the greatest thing was growing up poor, because it taught me the value of life" and "there are 3 things I'd never change; my faith, my country (USA), and my family name". He was a very faith-filled man.
