Ida I. (Provost) Benoit

Sturbridge.. Ida I. (Provost) Benoit, 74, died Sunday, April 28th, at UMass Memorial Medical Center/University Campus surrounded by her family.
Her husband of 45 years was the late Bruce E. Benoit, Sr. who died November 4, 2012.

She is survived by her children Bruce E. Benoit, Jr of Southbridge, Tammy Benoit of Sturbridge, and Betti-Ann Tatro and her husband Clifton of Sturbridge, with whom she lived, and 5 grandchildren Dillon Drake and his partner Vanessa Julian, Amber Drake and her partner Julio Costa, Helena Benoit, Sierra Tatro, and Savanna Tatro. She also leaves her 2 sisters Letitia Laflamme and her husband James of Southbridge, and Lynn Beane and her husband Bruce of Warren, many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her 2 brothers Joseph Smith and Frank Smith, and 2 sisters Joanne Rabbitt and Marilyn Smith.

Ida was born in Southbridge, April 24, 1945, daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth "Betty" (Hardy) Provost, and was a graduate of Southbridge High School, Class of 1963, and was a longtime member of Notre Dame Church. Ida retired from Galileo in Sturbridge where she worked for many years.  She enjoyed gardening, playing cards with her dear friends and neighbors Ronald "Chappy" and Darlene Chapdelaine of Sturbridge, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

The funeral will be Thursday, May 2, 2019, with a Mass at 10AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge, MA. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 1, from 5-7PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Center, 55 Sayles Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
