Palm Coast, Florida/Southbridge...George W. Streicher, Sr. 84, a former longtime Southbridge resident, died Friday, July 7, 2017, at home surrounded by his family, after a long illness.  He leaves his wife of 29 years, Louise (Servant) (Belanger) Streicher. They were married February 29, 1988. He also leaves his children Geralyn Tavernier and her husband Ronald of Cumberland, VA, Donna Wirf of Oxford, George Streicher, Jr. and his wife Jean of Jaffrey, NH, Arlene Ireland of Sturbridge, Thomas Streicher of Lecanto, FL, Susan (Dubois) Emanuelson and her husband Ward of Newbury, MA, Robert Streicher of Salisbury, MA, and Annmarie Hitchcock-Castonguay and her husband Ken of Grafton, 29 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his first wife Edith McConologue Streicher of Newbury, MA., his sister Wilhimena (Streicher) Slattery of Bucks County, PA,   and brother John Streicher and his wife Suzanne of Philadelphia, PA. He also leaves his step-children Michelle Burlingame and her husband Arnie of Charlton, and Denise Delgado and her husband Juan of Southbridge, his step-grandchildren Felicia Messier, Jesse Messier, Cyana Delgado, and Tyler Payson, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 brother-in-laws Paul Servant of Palm Coast, FL and Gerry Servant of Canada, and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by 2 brothers Wilhelm Streicher and Emil Streicher, his sister Helen Streicher all of Philadelphia, PA,  his grandson Charles Hitchcock of Grafton, step-daughter Monique Belanger of Taunton, and brother-in-law Pierre Servant of Southbridge.

George was born in Philadelphia, March 1, 1933, son of the late Emil George and Helen Mary (Plaskowski) Streicher, and lived here many years.  He served in the US Navy serving aboard the USS Benner 807, during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he continued his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and at Wentworth Institute. He was a retired custodian for the Town of Southbridge Public School System, and previously worked for several vending machine companies, and the American Optical Company. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, and wintering in Florida for many years before retiring there about 3 years ago.  George created many happy memories with family and friends that will never be forgotten.

The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 10AM at Saint Mary's Church, (Parish of St. John Paul II) 263 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery, N.
