Frederick Lewis Grindle

Southbridge...Frederick Lewis Grindle, aged 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20th 2018 in his wife Joan Grindle’s loving arms.  Born in Bristol, CT to parents Vera Belle and Harry Grindle, he lived most of his life in Southbridge, MA.
Fred was a passionate and compassiate man who loved his family dearly. He was a wonderful salesman for many years and had the gift of gab.  A gregarious person for sure with a bigger than life personality to match, people were simply drawn to him.  In his spare time he loved to listen to old-time radio shows and was an avid reader.  Fred was known to many as having an outgoing personality and a funny sense of humor.  He was at ease when speaking to large groups of people for work presentations and other venues.  His style motivated and inspired people, the trait of a true leader.  He never lost his sense of humor and could make even the truly stone-faced do a big belly laugh out loud.
In addition Fred served as a combat veteran in the Korean war where he earned various medals for his contributions & sacrifices.  Fred was a long time member of the Baptist church, where he & Joan were baptized by Paster Gil, as well being a long time member of the Sturbridge Worship Center where he very much enjoyed the music.
Fred is survived by his wife of 49 years Joan, of Southbridge, MA.  Fred was extremely loving and proud of his two daughters & always made them feel they could accomplish anything.  He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Petrini and husband Ken Petrini of Waterford, CT, and Tammy Hickey and husband Michael Hickey of Burlington, CT.  He is also survived by his sister Harriet Gadis of Bristol, CT; his three grandchildren, Matthew Hannan of Southbridge, MA, Ryan Hannan of Waterford, CT, and Tracy Vogt of Bristol, CT; as well as his many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, good friend Mark Nemetz, and other caring friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday March 10th 2018 at 10am at the Sturbridge Worship Center 9 Mashapaug Rd Sturbridge, MA.  A light lunch will be served following services.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).  Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N.
