Arthur "Sonny" D Lafortune

Southbridge...Arthur D. "Sonny" Lafortune, 79, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at home surrounded by family following a long illness. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Jeannine (Cabana) Lafortune. They were married September 1, 1958.

He leaves 2 sons David Lafortune and his wife Ellen of Warren, MA, Daniel "Danny" Lafortune and his companion Gail Smith of Southbridge, and his daughter Donna Hallowell and her husband Bruce of Tyngsboro, MA, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Evelyn (Lafortune) Ravenelle.

He was born in Southbridge, April 28, 1938, son of Arthur H. and Blanche (Ethier) Lafortune, and has lived most of his life in Southbridge. Sonny graduated from the former Cole Trade High School, Class of 1958. He worked for Raytheon Corp. for 40 years, retiring many years ago.

He was a longtime member of St. Hedwig's Church. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and carpentry, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 5-7PM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. The funeral Mass will be held at 10AM Wednesday, April 25, at Saint Hedwig's Church, Everett Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. Burial will follow at Saint Hedwig's Cemetery, 746 North Woodstock Road, Southbridge.
