Joseph C. Sibley

Southbridge- Joseph C. “Joey” Sibley Jr. 52 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 9th 2021.

Born in West Warwick, R.I. On February 4, 1969. He is the son of Joseph C. Sibley of Deland, FL and the late Mary E. “Millie” (Marand) Buckner. He is survived by his daughters: Rosalie Anglin, her husband Billy Anglin and his grandchild Lilly of Bradenton FL, Savannah Sibley of Monson, MA and Isabella “Slick” Sibley of Southbridge, MA; along with his step-daughter Chelsea Tower of Southbridge, MA  to whom he helped raise alongside his ex-spouse Amy Butler of Sturbridge, MA. His life companion Patty Moriarty of Southbridge, MA; his siblings Wendy Tretheway, husband John and their son Jeremy of Southbridge, MA, Debra Sibley and her daughter Brenna of Southbridge, MA; Mary Esteban and husband Benjamin of Peoria, AZ and Joshua Sibley of Deland, FL. He also leaves behind his four lifelong friends: Thomas Thibodeau of Woodstock, CT, David Jolin of Woodstock, CT, Edward O’Brien of Charlton, MA and Marc “Pickle” Verdolino of Charlton, MA. 

Joey graduated from Bay Path Vocational High School, class of 1987. He was a hard working employee as an operating engineer for the Local 4, employed with J.R. Vinagro out of Johnston, R.I. Growing up he passionately played ice hockey and raced dirt bikes. He made sure to teach “his boys” that “the gas is on the right!” He was also an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting and recently picked up golf. He spent time on the water in Point Judith, deep sea fishing for the catch of a lifetime. 

As Joe always said, “if I’m not back in five minutes, just wait longer.”  

Calling hours for Joseph will be Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 5-6:45PM; with Prayer Service beginning at 6:45PM; at Sansoucy Funeral Home. (40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550) Burial will be private.
