Marshall Theodore Martel

Marshall Theodore Martel, 84, of Holland, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on the August 26th, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.
 
Marshall leaves behind his soul mate of over 30 years, Barbara Gee; his first wife, Frances Perguidi who is still very involved with the Martel family, his daughters and sons, Hope of Exeter, RI, Marshall and his husband, Jesse of San Diego, CA, Holly and her husband, William of Lutherville, MD, and Joel and his wife, Colleen, of Brimfield, MA; three grandchildren, Brigid Fyfe, Tyler and Cameron Martel and one great-grandchild, Aria Martel; two sisters, Rita Simpson of Michigan, Theresa Bouchard of Southbridge; and one brother, Alan Martel of Willington, CT.  He is predeceased by his sisters, Faith Klecak, Gladys Martel, and Veronica Lapane and brothers, Clarence, Courtland, John, Hector, Warren, and Leslie Martel.
 
He was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Hector and Theresa (King) Martel.  He was a Korean Navy veteran.
 
Marshall lived most of his life in Holland and was a hairstylist for nearly 60 years. Known as “Mr. Marshall” for more than 30 years, he recently retired in November of 2014.
When Marshall and Barbara were not golfing in their spare time, they enjoyed staying active, which included, bowling, the gym, and downhill skiing.  He and Barbara spent part of his recent retirement in Palm Springs, CA with his older son, Marshall.  Marshall will be remembered for his kind and easy-going personality along with his competitive nature and sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, former clients, and the Hemlock Ridge golfing community.

Calling hours will be Friday, September 1, 2017, from 9-11AM, at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA 01550, with a Prayer Service at 11AM, with Rev. Ken Cardinale officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery, Arnold Road, Sturbridge, MA. Following the burial services, a bereavement luncheon will be held at 1:30PM at Hemlock Ridge Golf Course, 220 Holland Road, Sturbridge, (Fiskdale) MA.
